Fun on the farm at Meades' of Lobinstown on Sunday

Meade Farm in Lobinstown is opening its gates on Sunday 29th September from 12 noon to 4.30pm to fundraise for local schools and Ardee Hospice, with a combination of two of their most popular previous events, the National Potato Day 5K and the Family Fun Day on the Farm.  The Family Fun Day and 5K hopes to also raise awareness for National Potato Day which occurs on Friday 4th October this year.  Entry is by donation and all proceeds go back into the community for worthy causes.

The 5K run/walk, starting promptly at 12.30pm, will cater to the serious runners and happy walkers of all ages, with digital clock timing similar to the Park Run style for those wishing to clock their time.  Other activities on offer include Bouncy Castles, Mini Tractor Grand Prix, Grand Machinery Display, Face Painting, Ladyrath Lane Mini Petting Zoo, Pony Rides, a variety of potato refreshments and much more.  There will be both indoor and outdoor activities,  so rain, hail or shine the Meade family will be ready to welcome all.

“In the past, we’ve done both 5Ks and Family Fun Days at our farm, so this year we thought we would marry the two so that all generations can be entertained,” comments Eleanor Meade. “If we can help the local community and promote the potato at the same time, all the better.”

Meade Potato Company is one of Ireland’s leading growers, packers and distributors of fresh produce to the retail sector.  They are recent recipients of the Energia Family Food Business of the Year and have recently introduced innovative sustainable packaging to the potato category with a 100 per cent compostable potato bag currently available in selected Lidl stores.
