Getting the right shot at Headfort Golf Club this morning.

Euro Challenge Golf Tour launched at Headfort

It was action stations this morning at Headfort Golf Club for the launch of the European Challenge Tour that will take place at the Meath venue next month.

Headfort professional Brendan McGovern and top young Irish golfer Conor O'Rourke were both present for the launch.

"To have the challenge tour here is a great opportunity for the club to showcase its facilities," commented Headfort professional of 29 years Brendan McGovern at the launch of the event.

"I love playing golf and it doesn't matter where it is, I just love playing the game, the longer the tournament the better as
far as I'm concerned.

"The scoring for this event at Headfort will be good and if the weather is okay I see a score of 16 under winning, if these guys can shoot a 62 then let them do it," he added.

"I played at Headfort before and I remember that it was a really good test," stated O'Rourke who said he was looking forward to getting fully back to action following injury.

Also interviewed at the launch were Dawson and Hoey via conference calls, they were originally scheduled to attend the
launch last month, but that had to be postponed as the date clashed with the homecoming for 2019 Open champion Shane Lowry.

The European Challenge Tour will feature quality Irish golfers of the calibre of Michael Hoey, Robin Dawson and Ruaidhri McGee, action will take place from 10th - 13th October.

With free entry for spectators the European Challenge Tour is certain to be a big attraction for local enthusiasts.

The event, the Stone Irish Challenge, is the final full-field event of the season with 120 players set to bid for the top spot over the four days with an impressive prizefund of €200,000.

The leading 53 players on the season-long Rankings will be eligible for the Hainan Open and Foshan Open in China which will take place in the two weeks following the Headfort event.

The top 45 players from the season will then tee-off at the Challenge Tour Grand Final where the leading 15 players on the Rankings will earn European Tour Cards for 2020.
