2000 customers without water

Irish Water crews are on site repairing a burst watermain on the Proudstown Road since this morning.

The burst occurred on the water main that feeds water into Navan, near the junction of R162 and Clonmagadden road.

Approximately 2,000 customers are affected in rural areas surrounding Navan town. There is some water remaining in the network and many customers will have storage in their tanks so may not experience a full outage as yet but will be experiencing reduced pressure.

Supply is being maintained to the greater area of Navan town from Carne Hill reservoir. Tankers have been mobilised and are on standby to replenish water storage tanks in Our Lady’s Hospital in Navan in case their water storage runs short.

Crews have been on site since this morning and the repair is progressing well. The repair is expected to be completed by 5pm this evening though it may take a number of hours for the water supply to return in full to all impacted properties.

Irish Water apologises for the inconvenience and would like to assure customers that we are progressing the repair as quickly as possible.
