Meath ladies turn focus to All-Ireland final

Meath Ladies GAA team manager Eamonn Murray will be busy planning tactics for the All-Ireland IFC final over the next few weeks after last saturday's victory against Roscommon in the last four.

The Boardsmill man managed Meath to All-Ireland u-16 and minor success in the past.

I was always confident that we could handle Roscommon, they are a good side and deservedly beat us twice already this year, but we didn’t do ourselves justice on either of those days,” he claimed.

“We missed chances in those games that we should have scored, but today we defended brilliantly and took our goal opportunities, it was a great team display for all 21 players we used and the other girls who ensure training is hugely competitive.
“The save at the start of the second-half was crucial. That knocked the wind out of Roscommon and allowed us grow in confidence, I was certain from then on we would win.”

“We were determined to make amends for last year's disappointment, it hasn’t always been plain sailing but we are where we want to be.
“Just 60 minutes away from an All-Ireland title, this is massive for Meath, but Tyrone are the favourites for good reason, they are a great team and we will have to be at our best to stand a chance,” he concluded.

The Meath Chronicle will be producing a special supplement for the final in our edition dates Saturday 15th September.

Meath will play Tyrone in the final on Sunday 16th September at Croke Park.
