Keith Donoghue

First Festival winner for Keith Donoghue

Dunshaughlin jockey Keith Donoghue enjoyed his first Festival winner today at Cheltenham.

Donoghue was on board the Gordon Elliott-trained Tiger Roll in the Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase.
Tiger Roll was winning for a third time at Prestbury Park having previously won the Triumph Hurdle and the marathon four-mile National Hunt Chase.

Tiger Roll took up the running before entering the racecourse and won from Urgent De Gregaine with The Last Samuri in third.

"That was brilliant. He jumped brilliant the whole way and travelled welll, I thought he would win, my only worry was the ground," stated the jockey.

"He is a good horse and he has been very lucky for us. To win three races at Cheltenham is brilliant. He has been a great servant so I am absolutely thrilled and delighted. I'm delighted for Keith Donoghue as he had to lose seven pounds to ride the horse. Today was his day," stated the trainer.
