Road sign bent shortly after roundabout opens

Less than 48 hours after completion of the roundabout at Railway Street last Friday, a traffic sign was bent over, apparently having been hit by a vehicle.

Work on the roundabout had been taking place since last August and was completed on Friday.

Cllr Wayne Forde said the new roundabout is too narrow, dangerous and difficult to negotiate.

"The lip on the conrcrete is too high and a car could hit it and rip a tyre," he warned.

He also said the damage to the road sign showed what could haoppen at the junction.

"It could have been a parent with a child walking there," he said.
