Probe into Johnstown car fire

Navan Gardai are investigating a car fire at Bailis Village in Johnstown in the early hours of Sunday morning where a Ford Fiesta was destroyed. The blaze was reported at around 2am on 8th October and the incident has shocked the local community.

Navan Fire Service attended and quickly extinguished the blaze and Gardai were also called to the scene. The 00 Registered Ford Fiesta was later towed from the scene for technicial examination. Gardai have confirmed they are investigating the criminal damage incident and are seeking CCTV in the area.

This incident comes ahead of the tomorrow night's meeting of the Meath County Council's Joint Policing Committee in Trim Castle Hotel  at 7.30pm where the issue of tackling anti-social behaviour in the Johnstown area is likely to be brought up. The local community has been calling for Johnstown to have its own sub Garda station for some time to help deter those involved in anti-social behaviour.
