Meath Hill captain Chris Yorke could be raising the JFC cup on Sunday.

Meath Hill look like best option in JFC decider

Meath Hill can make the step up to the intermediate grade for 2018 when they tackle Moylagh in the JFC final at Pairc Tailteann on Sunday, 4pm.

The one certainty is that the Peter McDermott Cup will be heading to north Meath on this occasion and will be the second piece of championship silverware to go in that direction following the success of Gaeil Colmcille in the Junior B FC final.

The four adult championships could be destined for north Meath as Nobber, St Michael's and Oldcastle will all contest the IFC semi-finals while Gaeil Colmcille will be flying the flag in the race for the Keegan Cup.

Meath Hill and Moylagh will feature in Sunday’s big game and the respective supporters will certainly add colour and noise to the occasion.

According to Meath Hill manager Davy Cahill the club's supporters are very proud of their team and can often act as a 16th man in terms of the passionate vocal backing they provide.

And it's likely that they will be the ones celebrating when the final whistle sounds on Sunday.

That support is also likely to be boosted by members of the Drumconrath club who will probably put local rivalry to one side for an hour and get behind their nearby colleagues, Drumconrath and Meath Hill are joined at under-age level.

Moylagh cannot be written off completely and they will be confident that they can take one more step on a road that started out with a draw against Carnaross last May.

At the outset, Moylagh would have been viewed as relegation candidates, but with players of the calibre of Sean Reilly, Tommy O'Reilly, Joe Melia, Niall McLarney, Peter Fox and Brian Geraghty they carved out a route to the final and will now want to make it count on the big stage.

Meath Hill would also have been in the outsider category before a ball was kicked.

Meath Hill's semi-final victory against Carnaross was a hard-earned win and demonstrated the team's ability to dig out a win.

The threats to Moylagh will come from players like Tommy Rooney, Ian Malone, Pearse McGrath, Jason and Chris Yorke while at the back, quality defenders Barry Kieran, Ryan Owens and Conor Marry will thwart the opposition's bid for scores.
