Meath 1915 captain Miss M Wall

Meath camogie team 1915

An old Camogie Association match programme from 1915 surfaced in the Meath Chronicle office today and we are looking for assistance in getting some background on the Meath team.

The game was part of a double-header at Croke Park on Sunday 19th September 1915.

The action involved Louth v Dublin South at 3pm and Meath v Dublin North at 4.10pm.

The Meath colours were white with a green sash and the players unifrom was a costume length of Donegal homespun.

The Meath captain was Miss M Wall who had played with Kilmessan 1912 but when the Kilmessan club disbanded the players joined Killeen.

The Killeen team went on become the best team in the Meath while Miss M Wall is described in the programme notes as an exceptional player.

Meath had played Dublin at Killeen, St Margaret's at Ratoath and Emeralds from Drogheda at Cushinstown previously.

The Meath team (12-a-side) was

Miss M Wall (Killeen)

Miss Ann Collier (Killeen), Miss K Geraghty (Killeen)

Miss M Mullally (Dunboyne), Miss T Loughran (Killeen), Miss M Brabazon (Killeen)

Miss Margaret Mullally (Dunboyne), Miss M Byrne (Dunboyne), Miss A Clynch (Killeen)

Miss M McEntaggart (Killeen), Miss S Douglas (Killeen)

Miss M Loughran (Killeen)

Subs were
Miss A Loughran (Killeen)
Miss T Loughran (Killeen)
Miss R Coffey (Killeen)

If anyone can provide any background on any of the players on the Meath panel let us know.
