Meath's sportsperson of the year (Meath Chronicle / Cusack Hotel Group annual awards) Natalya Coyle has made it through to the 2017 UIPM Modern Pentathlon Senior World Championships final in Egypt.

Some 62 athletes contested the qualifying round and Natalya Coyle was among the 36 qualifiers which also included the 2008 and 2012 Olympic champions, Lena Schoeneborn (GER) and Laura Asadauskaite (LTU).

Also in the quality group of qualifiers was the 2016 Olympic silver medallist Elodie Clouvel (FRA), the 2017 World Cup final winner Tamara Alekszejev (HUN) and the reigning world champion, Sarolta Kovacs (HUN).

The modern pentathlon comprises the following - fencing, 200m freestyle swimming, showjumping, pistol shooting and a 3,200m cross-country run.
