Kingscourt girl is Yorkshire Rose

The Meath Rose, Anne Lynam, from Enfield did not make the final 32 contestants who will compete in the live finals of the rose of Tralee this week.

However, the local area will still be represented in the finals as the Yorkshire Rose, Aisling McArdle is a Kingscourt girl and is among the final 32 contestants in the competition.

Both Anne and Aisling were  among the 64 Roses from all over the world taking part in this year's festival which has been running since the 16th until tonight (Tuesday) when this year's Rose of Tralee will be announced.

They have been involved in parades, fashion show, balls and fireworks displays over the past couple of weeks.

Anne had indicated she didn't mind if she didn't get through.

“It is a dream come true - no matter what happens - I'll be in the front row in the Dome with my Meath Rose sash on me,†she says.

Only 32 Roses can be accommodated in the live RTÉ TV selections with Dáithí Ó Sé and among them is Kingscourt girl Aisling McArdle who currently lives in Yorkshire and is the Yorkshire Rose.
