Get on your bike, kids – it's family fun time at the Meath Heritage Cycle Tour!


The Meath Heritage Cycle Tour Family Spin starts at 5pm from Castle Street, Trim on Saturday 29th July. Families can register on the day from 2pm in the marquee on the grounds of Trim Castle. The 11km family spin is a flat route, suitable for all family members – grannies, granddad's, uncles, aunts, au pairs etc, all very welcome. Following rules will apply – you must register on the day, you must be over 6 yrs of age, you must be able to cycle independently and you must wear a cycle helmet – stabilisers, tricycles, scooters are not permitted. Please note – the family spin is a controlled leisure cycle. Check out last year's fun below!

Our family spin ambassador – Chris McElligott will be taking part in his first ever sportif using a hand-cycle. Chris has an upper leg amputation and is trying out the sport of cycling in an effort to keep active and fit. The aim of the family spin is to promote cycling as a fun and enjoyable activity, with safety a key priority. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all stages of the cycle spin. Cost per entrant is €3. Gardai and cycling coaches from Moynalty and Trim Cycle clubs will provide guidance and instruction along the route. Food stop will be at Jack Quinns where participants can meet our family spin mascot – Mr. Tayto. 


On return to Trim, participants can enjoy taking part in the cycle challenges and obstacle course along with bouncy castles. The 50km Tara Loop, 100km Royal Tour & 160km Royal Challenge takes place on Sunday 30th July – those interested in taking part can register online or call into our office up to 5pm on the 25th July.
