Carrickmacross hotel to reopen in June

An iconic hotel in Carrickmacross has been purchased by Eileen Treacy and family and is reopening in June 2017, creating over 50 new jobs.
Eileen Treacy, general manager, along with her family have relocated to Monaghan and have been busy refurbishing the hotel which is already a highly sought after wedding venue.
“We have been blown away by the local welcome and are delighted with the boost it will give the local economy,' Eileen says. 'We are currently upgrading the hotel to a 4 Star standard. The positive reaction is unbelievable, couples have been calling our other Treacy’s Hotels to book wedding dates for the new Monaghan Hotel already and this is before we even had our phone lines set up.”

The 43 bedroom hotel, formerly known as Carrick Court Hotel, had received a multimillion euro refurbishment before its closure in 2009.

Eileen’s five-year plan includes adding a new leisure centre and spa as well as increasing the hotel’s bedroom capacity to 120 bedrooms. The pre-opening hotel refurbishment and landscaping is well underway.
Jim and Bridget Treacy opened their first hotel, Treacy’s Hotel Waterford in Waterford City 40 years ago, this year. The family owned and managed hotels include Treacy’s in Waterford City,  Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford, and  Ennis, Co Clare.
