First double for trainer Tom Gibney

Trainer Tom Gibney had enjoyed a good run of form from his new base at Capranny on the Kildalkey Road outside Trim since he made the move from Drumbaragh more than 12 months ago.

Although the last couple of months have been hindered by a virus, his
horses returned to form today at Navan where he recorded a double - his first double since he started training.

Stoughan Cross which is owned by the Moynalty Partnership was a great winner for the main man Jim Nevin in the Follow Navan On Facebook Handicap Chase.

The first winner today was Next Bend which is owned by Derek Kierans, a Drogheda man who is based in the USA.

'We were really struggling for about the last 12 weeks with the form of the yard, but it's great to get the two winners on the board,' the trainer told the Meath Chronicle.

For Next Bend it was a third win on the track, a second at Navan, and for jockey Jonathan Moore it was also a double on the day on the two Gibney-trained horses.

Gibney will have two runners at Fairyhouse tomorrow.
