Runamuck for Childline!
Trying to get back into that fitness routine after Christmas? Struggling to enjoy your training? We have just the solution. Why not throw yourself around in muck this March in aid of ISPCC Childline?
The Runamuck Challenge is a 5.5km (1 lap) or 11k (2 laps) cross-country event over a wet and mucky course with various manmade and natural obstacles like bale 'jumps', net scrambles, super slides, tarzan swings, bridges, ditches, streams, tyres and tunnels. The event is for walkers, joggers and runners. And not the faint-hearted.
This year’s exhilarating Runamuck event will take place on Saturday 11th March in the Coolcarrigan Estate in Co Kildare.
Why not get together with your friends, families or workmates and Runamuck in aid of ISPCC Childline? You can book individually or in team (minimum of three in a team and group discounts available for four or more participants. See runamuck.ie for further details).
Director of Fundraising for ISPCC Childline, Gill Waters, said: “The fun-soaked Runamuck event is always a good challenge and loads of fun; collecting money for ISPCC Childline Childline gives it an added bonus. The course will ensure you get splashed, drenched and covered in mud but it’s a great excuse to do something different!
“ISPCC Childline depends on public donations to keep our services running so your fundraising and donations will be a part of every text and call we answer.”
Childline volunteer, Brian Caulfield, said: “I competed in Runamuck in October 2016 in aid of ISPCC Childline and it was one of the best experiences I’ve had. I took party with five work colleagues and it was “perfect” weather for it (that is, cold and wet). The day was so much fun and well worth the sore limbs after the event. Everyone there is out to have a good time, help each other and have a laugh while traipsing through the muck and over the obstacles. I would recommend it to anyone to get involved and help raise money for a great cause as ISPCC.”
Childline is the only 24-hour listening service which seeks to support and empower children and young people in Ireland. Last year, Childline had conversations with almost 440,000 children and young people who contacted the service for help and advice with wide-ranging serious issues, including abuse, violence, exploitation, addiction and suicide. That is an astounding 1,205 contacts by children a day, on issues that no child should encounter.
