Vandalism at Castletown cemetery

The community of Castletown was shocked last week when vandals attacked the new cemetery, spray painting obscenities on the walls of the graveyard.

Locals were shaken when they saw the cemetery walls desecrated with a number of obscentities on Friday including “f..k the Castletown mafia c..ts”. Minister Helen McEntee, who is from the area, said it was very disappointing that someone would do such a thing, especially as the community and particularly the Tidy Towns committee work so hard to keep the area looking fantastic.

“Thankfully, there were no headstones damaged but I couldn’t condone anything like this.
“I would encourage anybody who might know who could have done this to encourage people not to engage in this kind of vandalism,” she said.
Navan Gardai are investigating the incident. Supt Michael Devine said it was a shocking incident at a graveyard.
Meath County Council has since removed the graffitti.
