Real horror as visitor to Kells Spooktacular becomes victim

A devastated young woman whose wedding and engagement rings were stolen while she was enjoying the Haunted Spooktacular in Kells on Friday night, has made a desperate appeal for help in recovering her rings.

Anne Kavanagh says she is heartbroken about her rings and is making a heartfelt appeal for any information that could help find them.
“If anybody sees them, they might recognise them as the engagement ring is quite unusual. I hope they fall into the right hands and that they will be returned. They are irreplaceable.”
“The engagement ring is an antique rose gold band with a ruby stone surrounded by diamonds. The wedding ring is plain rose gold.”
'My main concern is that they are safely returned and a reward will be offered,' she said.
Anne and four friends travelled to the haunted Spooktacular at Grove Gardens on Friday night after they had locked their handbags in the boot of their car.
They had phones and cash in their bags, as well as Anne’s rings.
They were there for a little over an hour and when they returned to the car, the back window was smashed.
“They had accessed the boot through the car and all our handbags were taken,” she explains.
They called the gardai and security staff at the event said they hadn’t heard or seen anything.
“One of the girls drove back on Saturday morning and found some of the bags thrown in the ditch, but any cash or phones were missing, as well as my rings.”
Anne, who lives in Newtownforbes, Co Longford said it was very upsetting and traumatic.
“We were an hour and a half from home. All our valuables were gone and we had to drive home with a broken window.
“One of the girls was only 17 so we felt terrible that she had to experience something like this,” she said.
In a statement Grove Gardens/Haunted Spooktacular apologised to Anne and her friends.
“We are deeply angered by the nature of this incident as it has cast an unwanted shadow over our otherwise popular event. We have been assisting with Gardai and have issued an appeal to the public for help to bring the perpetrators of this heinous act to justice.”
