Heights proves Elusive for opposition at Navan

The Ger Lyons-trained Elusive Heights returned to action at Navan last night and showed no ill effects from an incident at the Curragh on Irish Derby weekend.

On that occasion Elusive Heights was brought down when challenging inside the final furlong (by Johann Bach) in a race that was won by the Gavin Cromwell-trained Breathe Easy.

Last night in the final race on the card and with Colin Keane on board the three-year-old bounced back to winning ways for a second win in four outings.

The victory was some consolation for the Kiltale-trainer who saw his 1/6 shot Roibeard beaten in the opener by the Johnny Murtagh-trained Landsman.

The only other winner on the card with local connections was provided by Moynalty jockey Declan McDonogh who partnered Black Label to victory in a 13-furlong handicap for trainer Ado McGuinness.

Dunderry GAA club hosted a fundraising raceday at the track - see next edition of Meath Chronicle for photographs.

CORK
Down at Cork, Meath trainer Robbie Hennessy got to the track in time to win a handicap hurdle with Magnetic Force which was partnered by Ashbourne jockey Andrew Lynch.

According to the trainer, Magnetic Force will run again at Downpatrick on Wednesday in a 0-95, but will be out of that bracket afterwards.

Jockey Robbie Power also made it into the winners' enclosure at Mallow when he partnered The Fitz Lady to victory in a hurdle for trainer Eric McNamara.
