Le Boom at the Backroom

Navan native, Christy Leech whose indie-electro band, Le Boom, originated in Brooklyn, NY and is managed by New York independent label Rooftop Records NYC, will play a one-off, pre-tour show in his hometown this Friday (20th May) at The Backroom (Lantern).

Christy, under the moniker, Le Boom, was discovered by a NYC-based label-manager after he recorded a series of demos in a disused warehouse in Brooklyn last summer.

Although not officially released, two demos were picked up by NYC radio station WNYU Radio, BBC's Across The Line show, and Dublin stations 98FM and 8Radio.

One of the demos has now been licensed exclusively to British Airways for use on transatlantic flights as part of NME's Next Generation inflight entertainment feature

Le Boom played a late night slot at the Electric Picnic '15, sold out their own headline show at Dublin's Whelan's in November and played opening slots for Irish artists such as Daithi and international artists such as Vampire Weekend's Baio. Le Boom will release their debut single in June followed by details of shows in Ireland and the UK.

Catch them live in the Backroom this Friday along with local acts, Saramai who recently appeared on RTE's Other Voices and The Great Simones who played at Electric Picnic last year. All three acts will play at this year's Vantastival festival in Beaulieu House in Louth.

Christy says: 'I'm really excited to test out our new set in the venue where I played my first ever gig. The Navan music scene is buzzing at the moment with acts like Saramai and The Great Simones so it'll be great to get to share the stage with them.'

Tickets, 5 euro, available at the door only. See www.facebook.com/leboommusic for more details.
