Deputy Regina Doherty.

Regina Doherty appointed Government Chief Whip

Meath East TD Regina Doherty has been appointed Minister of State at the Department of Taoiseach and Government Chief Whip.

The Fine Gael TD has lived in Ratoath for over 20 years with her husband and their four children. Before getting elected to Dail Eireann in 2011, she worked in the IT sector and later was elected as a Meath county councillor.
Deputy Doherty was a member of the Joint Oireachtas Committee for Health and Children and the Joint Oireachtas Committee for Finance and Public Expenditure.

Over the course of the last Dail, Deputy Doherty was a very capable media performer often sent out to represent the party and government on difficult issues. She was the subject of death threats last year following a heated debate with Sinn Fein leader, Gerry Adams, on local radio station, LMFM.

Former Skryne national school principal, Mary Mitchell O'Connor, has been appointed Minister for Jobs. She was elected as a TD for the Dún Laoghaire constituency at the 2011 general election. She was a Progressive Democrats county councillor before joining Fine Gael in 2007.

Dunboyne native and former Meath county councillor, Richard Bruton, becomes Minister for Education and Skills.
