Beggy’s Bar in Navan continue on their mission to make Navan the mecca of great live music by announcing the ‘Rising Festival Of Great Irish Music’, taking place this month. The festival will take place over St Patrick’s Day and Easter weekend, and will be headlined by Christy Dignam and Joe Jewell of Aslan fame on 18th March.
Beggy’s Bar helps up and coming local musicians to pursue their dreams by providing them the opportunity to play alongside the best musical talent in the country, and are running a singer/songwriter competition on Friday 11th March 11th for the chance to support Christy Dignam and Joe Jewell. The line up for the Rising festival includes Ben Reel on 12th March, with his mix of blues, Americana, rock and reggae. He has played with Jools Holland and The Cranberries among others.
Pilgrim Street play on Wednesday 16th March. The local musical legends combine folk, bluegrass, country and trad into a high energy show with unique interpretations of some legendary tunes.
St Patrick’s Day sees trad music from 5pm, followed on Friday by the Aslan singers. On Easter Saturday 26th March, Desire perform the ‘Best of Rock and Pop – Old and New’, one of the best live bands in the country
Easter Sunday 27th March sees the Beggy Experiment with a surprise special guest, while on Easter Monday, rest your ears and your legs from all the music and dancing and enjoy the film about ‘the big fella’, with a screening of Michael Collins.

I am delighted to announce the launch of the inaugural ‘Rising Festival of Great Irish Music’ in Beggy’s. It is especially relevant given the participation of exceptional local talent like ‘Pilgrim Street’ and the ‘Beggy Experiment’.
