Wheelchair association seeking angels volunteers

Volunteers are key to the success of any fundraising campaign and this year Irish Wheelchair Association (IWA) has more volunteering opportunities than ever, particularly in the lead up to the Angels Campaign. The Association is calling on local community groups, organisations, businesses, schools and colleges to volunteer their time to sell Angels products or host an Angels event. All funds raised during the Angels Campaign will be invested into the range of services IWA provide from the busy Day Centre located on the Kells Road, Navan.

Angels is Irish Wheelchair Association’s largest fundraising campaign and this year the national collection days will take place on Thursday 5th and Friday 6th November. Hundreds of volunteers are required nationwide to sell Angels products which include Angel Pins, Children’s Fun Packs and Angels Car Air Fresheners. IWA Meath is hoping that the local community will support their fundraising efforts this November by volunteering some time during the two national collection days.

Louise Cahill, IWA Angels Coordinator Meath said: “IWA’s Day Centre provides services and supports to people with physical disabilities living in towns and communities across Meath. The IWA Day Centre in Navan acts as a hub in the local community, a place where people can go to meet, get advice, seek support, learn new skills and socialise.

Each week I am involved in supporting local people with disabilities to take part in programmes, activities or social events that make such a difference to their lives. The €2 donation IWA asks for once a year during the Angels Campaign really does go a long way.”

IWA is conscious that many of their supporters are not available to volunteer during the day due to work and family commitments and instead ask that they Text Donate. Donating by text takes seconds and is very simple. By texting ‘ANGELS to 50300’ you can make a direct contribution to the Association. Alternatively, IWA is asking local people to get involved by organising a coffee morning, raffle or bake sale for their family, friends, neighbours or colleagues to take part in.

IWA’s Fundraising Department would be delighted to support any Angels event by supplying an Angels Fundraising Pack which includes information, balloons, and a selection of Angels products to sell at the event.
