Blthnaid libh ar raidi

Bláthnaid Ní Chofaigh takes to the airwaves on the 12th September for the first show in her brand new radio series, Bláthnaid Libh, on RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta. The Saturday morning magazine show will be broadcast from 11am to 12 noon each week.

Bláthnaid hopes to entice people with a love of the language, but perhaps not fluency, to listen in to the show on Saturdays. Each week, she’ll have some well-known personalities display how much they remember from their school Irish in ‘Bain triail as’, which literally means ‘give it a go’. We’ll hear from busy parents across the country bussing their kids to training, matches, classes etc. On Saturday mornings, and Chris Greene from 2fm will be popping by each week for a chat. There will also be special guests, a regular sports feature, a quiz, lots of prizes to be won, and plenty of good fun. Broadcaster Róisín O’Hara will be a guest on the first programme.

The Rath Chairn broadcaster said: 'I’m really looking forward to Bláthnaid Libh taking to the airwaves on Saturday, and to working in radio. I am also delighted to have the opportunity to broadcast in my own native tongue, because I can be more at ease as Gaeilge. We’ll be featuring mainly human interest stories, and I’m particularly interested in representing women’s opinions and stories, without forgetting the men of course! Listeners can expect a mix of serious and light features, and we’ll look forward to hearing from them.'
