Bohermeen burgers are the best

Burned bohermeen burgers are the key to fitness

The secret is out - and exclusively revealed by the investigative branch of the Meath Chronicle -  burned burgers are the real reason for the success of tonight's Bohermeen road race that attracted an estimeated 500 enthusiasts for ther popular 5km event.

The start was a bit like the Aintree Grand National with Dunboyne man Tommy McDonnell trying to keep order as the Precision Timing crew set the clock for the chip-timed event.

However, it was easy to spot the locals (see video clip of start) as they were aware that the real goal was not a fast time, but just to finish and join the queue for the speciality of the night 'BURNED BOHERMEEN BURGERS' with club chairman Stephen Ball outlining the efforts that had been made to cater for all tastes.

'Get your burger after the finish, don't worry if you are a vegetarian, we even have veggie burgers,' he pledged at the finish line - that he was believed was evident by the size of the queue that was hardly visible through the smoke.

Over in the cooking area, one cook (who wanted to remain anonymous) said 'I can hardly see, my eyes are running, it's the smoke, but it's a very important part of the BOHERMEEN BURGER.

There was no chip time available for the 'running eyes' but the queue was moving quickly at the well-organised event that was, for the most part, held in dry conditions.

See other story for results and video of all finishers who clocekd under 20 minutes. Popular Boyerstown NS principal Cathal O Bric didn't make it into that cetegory, but he got a burger.
