Kerry fans most confident of a return

Paddy Power has revealed that Kerry fans are the loyalist GAA punters in the land, after the bookie looked at how much money from each county is going on their own team.

Of all bets placed on the All-Ireland SFC in the Kingdom an extraordinary 58% was placed on Gooch and co. retaining Sam making them by far the most confident fans in the country.

Despite not having won a title since ’51, over 50% of Mayo punters are continuing to show their faith while 47% of Dublin punters are backing the Jacks to lift the cup at skinny odds of 6/4.

Almost half of all punters in Cork and Donegal are happy to stay loyal to their own county, but it’s a different story in Galway. Just 21% of Corribsiders are backing the 20/1 shots to do the business with more than a third backing the Boys in Blue instead.

Féilim Mac An Iomaire, a spokesperson for Paddy Power, said “Kerry fans are notoriously coy about their side’s chances every year but our research proves that they fully expect to see Sam remain in the Kingdom for yet another year. On the other hand, If Mayo's long suffering fans are this loyal every year, it's fair to say that we've made a few quid off them”
