Anns weight loss continues

As the song says 'Three’s a magic number’ and I’m proud to report that I’m another 3lbs lighter this week.
This was my tenth consultation with my inspiration counsellor Siobhan, who has encouraged me every bit of my weight loss journey.
I have in total lost almost two stone and altough I still have a long bit to go, I certainly intend to keep up my efforts.
Armed with Siobhan’s advice and encouragement, Dr Maurice Larocque’s relaxing CD which I listen to regularly and his book, I intend to continue my efforts at losing weight.
One habit I’ve developed over the weeks with the Motivation Clinic, involves imagining myself at my ideal weight and the many benefits I will enjoy when I’m at that weight.
The Motivation programme has made me look at why I have gained so much weight over the years and how to change my behaviour and the way I think about food.
That certainly has happened as I no longer turn to food for comfort or indeed to celebrate.
Motivation has helped me to see why I overeat and the difference between a true need for food and a triggered need.
Sensory triggers can cause people to eat too much when they don’t need to and they certainly caused me to overeat.
An enticing TV commercial where someone is enjoying a delicious icecream or walking by a bakery just as a fresh rack of cakes are taken from the oven can often cause temptation, even though we are not hungry.
Avoiding low blood sugars and training your mind to think about food differently all help avoid these triggers.
Through Motivation, I have also learned that when I make mistakes and eat something I shouldn’t, I just have to get on with it and continue my diet.
Many diets fail because of the disgust people feel when they have a ‘slip’ and they just continue with their old ways, instead of accepting they are human, they made a mistake and getting back into the healthy eating mode.
Dr Larocque advises that when we find the programme hard going to seek help, talk to a trusted friend or partner.
It is important also to review your goals, both short and long term and think of all the progress you have made towards achieving your goal. Then consider what a waste it would be to allow one fall to cancel all that out!
So now I continue my journey, armed with a new mental attitude and without my cravings for all things fattening, determined to continue to lose weight in the weeks and months to come.
