Ann continues the motivation weight loss programme

Week eight

There was a lot of temptation in my way this past week, and I have to admit I wasn’t always as good as I should be - but despite this, I managed to lose weight.
It was just one pound this week, not a lot in comparison to the three and four pounds of the previous weeks, but at least I am still going downwards.
I thought Mothers Day and St Patrick’s Day would be the real challenges and while I was eating out those days and therefore the food was less healthy, I made reasonably good choices.
The big problem was during the week when I had to attend two gatherings after work. It was meal-time, I was getting hungry and the only food available was nibbles, most of which were deep fried and fattening.
I tried hard to resist, but hunger got the better of me and I tucked in on both occasions.
This is one thing that Dr Maurice Larocque the founder of the programme explains quite clearly in his books.
The Motivation Weight Management programme focusses a lot on the emotional reasons for overeating, but Dr Maurice also looks at physiological reasons - one of them being hypoglaecemia.
The programme involves eating two protein supplements between meals so that blood sugars dont fall, because when they do and you get very hungry, that is when the real trouble starts - you eat too much and will eat anything, regardless of whether it is healthy or fattening.
On both evenings, the gap between meals was too long, I got really hungry and all thoughts of healthy eating went out the window!
The lesson I learned from this is to ensure I plan ahead , make sure I have meals at the appropriate times and to take my protein supplements.
On the programme, I eat three small meals a day, it’s a high protein low carbohydrate diet, and I eat two protein bars a day, which helps to quell cravings or hunger.
The protein supplements are delicious by the way - this week I have chosen my favourite, the chocolate peanut bar and a delicious praline type bar called chocolate decadence.
It is all a learning process and I feel I am improving all the time - not just losing weight but changing my attitudes. I feel I have learned from mistakes made this past week and Im hoping for a big weight loss next week.
I intend to start getting more exercise too. Spurred on by my excellent counsellor, Siobhan, I intend to to for a walk each evening to help shift more of those pounds. I’ll keep you posted.
