May date in dublin for domingo

World famous tenor Plácido Domingo will make his long awaited return to Ireland on the 31st May next to perform in Dublin’s 3Arena.

Domingo will be accompanied by conductor Eugene Kohn and special guests performing with the full concert orchestra.

Tickets will be priced from €86.50, and will be available on general release Friday 6th March from 3Arena and Ticketmaster outlets nationwide.

Maestro Domingo’s last performance in Ireland was in March 2004 and his return has been most welcomed. He is recognised, not only as one of the finest and most influential singing actors in the history of opera, but also as a respected conductor.

He turned seventy-four in January 2015, but his gifts and energy remain undiminished.

Domingo’s vocal repertoire encompasses 145 stage roles – a number unmatched by any other celebrated opera singer in history. He has won eleven Grammy Awards, two Latin Grammy Awards, Emmy Awards, Latin Recording Academy’s Person of the Year in 2010 and many more including Medals of Honour, Doctorates, lifelong achievement, commitment and contribution to music awards plus the Birgit Nilsson Prize (at one million dollars, the most generous prize in the world of classical music) for his outstanding achievements in opera.

In 1990, Domingo and his colleagues José Carreras and the late Luciano Pavarotti spontaneously formed the Three Tenors, which then performed from time to time with enormous success all over the world and attracted many new fans to opera.

As of 2015, Domingo has been singing leading roles for 54 years in more than 3,800 performances – 700 of them at the Met alone! But there are no signs of slowing down: his preliminary schedule from July 2014 through June 2015 includes 47 performances in seven leading opera roles, five in the zarzuela Luisa Fernanda, 13 in concerts, and four conducting appearances – all of this in 17 different cities in 13 countries on four continents. And he continues to carry out multiple duties as General Director of Los Angeles Opera and the driving force behind Operalia.

Placido Domingo’s show at Dublin’s 3Arena will feature operatic classics, popular arias, Latin and Theatrical greats. This is a unique opportunity to see such a legendary artist in one of Europe’s best concert venues.
