Snow warning as weather turns bitterly cold

Met Eireann is warning of a few very cold days to come, with snow showers already affecting parts of County Meath this morning.

The forecast is for wintry showers to push down across the county in a strong to gale force west to northwest wind today with the scattered showers turning increasingly to sleet and snow with some light to moderate accumulations possible, with all areas at risk.

Met Eireann says it will be bitterly cold with an added wind chill effect and highest temperatures of just 3 to 5 degrees Celsius.

Scattered sleet and snow showers will continue tonight with some moderate accumulations and it will stay windy in a strong and gusty westerly wind. Lowest temperatures will be 0 to +2 degrees Celsius.
