NEFL's James Goggins controls the ball against the LFL.

Six of the best from kavanagh as nefl win with ease

Barry Kavanagh helped himself to a brilliant six goals as the North East Football League completed the group phase of their Oscar Traynor Trophy campaign with a 7-0 route of the Leinster Football League tonight.

The Duleek striker excelled on the MDL's all-weather pitch to torment the LFL defence and fire home six of the best.

The visitors had no answer to Kavanagh's awareness and sharpness and he could easily have added a few more to his account.

He had a 'goal' disallowed for off-side while he also forced a number of excellent saves from LFL goalkeeper Niall Vaughan.

Kavanagh struck twice to leave it 2-0 at the break and he added four more before Muirhevnamor's Barry Clarke fired home a seventh from close range.

Trim Celtic's James Goggins gave an excellent display for the home side who were particularly dominant in the second-half zipping the ball around with confidence.

The easy victory, added to an win over the UCL earlier in the campaign, meant that the MDL topped their group. Now manager Paddy O'Reilly and his charges await to see who they face in the next phase.
