Lost brothers selected for other voices

The Lost Brothers, Oisin Leech from Navan and Mark McCausland from Omagh, have been announced as one of the acts to play prestigious TV music show 'Other Voices'.

Oisín and Mark were delighted to be selected to perform on the show.  Oisín states ”hundreds of bands each year apply to play the show and only twelve or so are picked to perform at St James Church in Dingle”.

'We got the phone call the day we played London recently, that Other Voices wanted us for the new series. Our London gig had just sold out that same moment so it was a good news day all around,' states Oisin.

'We love Dingle and we love Other Voices . It's all about the music, the songs and the people. It's the perfect end to what has been a busy year,' he explains.

The Lost Brothers will perform on Friday 12th December in St James Church, Dingle.  They will also play a free concert at 4pm on Saturday 13th December in An Diseart Chapel in Dingle.

Oisín adds that they have been touring on and off since March this year between Russia, Europe, Scotland, England and Ireland. Many of the dates on their recent Irish and UK tour sold out.

One of the sold out shows was in the Solstice Arts Centre in Navan where they played with guests, Pilgrim St and Saramai Leech. They played songs from the new album 'New Songs of Dawn and Dust' as well as songs from their earlier releases and concluded the show on a Christmas theme!

'The Solstice Arts Centre gig was my favourite of the tour. So many friends turned up on the night. Saramai and Pilgrim St played great sets and Lar McEvoy and Stevey Beggy helped announce the acts. We had a super after show too in Beggy’s'.

'We had spoken to the Solstice Arts Centre for years about playing a Christmas show and now felt right with the new album out. They put a lot of work into the night and it was good to fill the room with local music and local people. My Mum and Dad were there too which was special. '

'We did not expect it to sell out like it did. Someone was joking that our next Navan gig will have to be an open air gig in the Fair Green!'

The Lost Brothers new album has been shortlisted in the best roots album category in The Ticket 2014 album of the year and the band are calling on Meath people to go online and vote! Voting ends this Monday 14th December.

'We are really happy to get nominated in the top five roots albums beside our hero Leonard Cohen.  It would be funny if we gave it a go.'

You can visit www.irishtimes/culture to vote for the Lost Brothers in each category.

Oisín adds 'we have another busy year ahead in 2015 but for now I'll enjoy Other Voices and being at home in Navan over the holidays'.
