Dunboyne performer in sleeping beauty

Star of local theatre, Seán Keany, has landed the lead role in the Sleeping Beauty pantomime, which will be performed from 1st to 4th January in Liberty Hall Theatre, Eden Quay.

Seán is no stranger to the stage, having played many lead roles for local Meath musical societies. Most recently, he played Curly in Ratoath Musical Society’s production of ‘Oklahoma’ and Rod in St Mary’s Navan Musical Society’s production of ‘Avenue Q’. He also recently played the coveted role of Jean Valjean in ‘Les Misérables Schools Edition’ which was performed at the Helix in Dublin. Other roles to date include Gary in ‘A Slice Of Saturday Night’, Angel in ‘RENT’ and King Herod in ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’. He has played a number of roles in pantomimes over the years with various musical societies.

Opening on New Year’s Day, and featuring talented young performers from local stage schools across Dublin, ‘Sleeping Beauty’ tells the story of a beautiful princess and her evil aunt who wants to be queen. The evil aunt casts a spell on the princess at birth which can only be broken by true loves first kiss. Sean will play the role of Seymour who manages to rescue the princess.

The cast of characters consisting of the King, his trusted advisor Lord Fartalot, and the Princess’s Nanny, Knotty Knickers, who try to protect the Princess against the evil Shakra and her two sons Graham and Norton.

With a hilarious script written by Killian Donnelly, Meath’s hottest theatre export who is currently starring in the West End production of ‘Memphis’, and packed with popular songs and dance routines, this production will appeal to all ages and ensure a fantastic night’s entertainment.
