Navan in top three christmassy towns

Navan has made it into the final three in the competition to find Ireland’s Most Christmassy town.
RTE’s Today programme, which is hosting the competition, has been very impressed by Navan’s entry and is coming to town on Friday to film the opening of the live animal crib.
The results of the competition will be featured on the afternoon show next week.
Navan’s entry featured a short YouTube film featuring the Mayor of Navan Cllr Sinead Burke as well as Santa and Mrs Claus, which was shot and edited within 24 hours by local film student, Joe Murray.
Council officials, Alan Rogers and Audrey Norris helped create the film, which included Santa and Mrs Claus shopping around town.
Santa was fitted for new boots in Jack Kiernans, Mrs Claus collected his suit from Tara Cleaners and the pair were seen shopping in Ode and Callan and Harte, before taking a break for coffee in Chekhovs.
They later enjoyed a romantic meal in The Central. Santa also go some energy boosting vitamins in the Health Shop!
Paddy Pryle played a walking and talking Christmas tree in the film, while Meath River Rescue ferried the Three Wise Men up the Boyne.
RTE will be filming in Navan on Friday and the results will be announced next week.
