Plastics reprocessing company to set up in gibbstown

Clearplas Plastics, a UK-based plastics reprocessing company, has announced that it is establishing a new operation in the Baile Ghib Gaeltacht with the support of Údarás na Gaeltachta. Clearplas Ireland Ltd, a subsidiary of Clearplas Plastics, will operate its first plastic reprocessing facility in Ireland and plans to employ 19 people over the next three years and increase employment thereafter.

Minister of State for Gaeltacht Affairs, Joe McHugh TD, welcomed the announcement, “I’m delighted to hear that Clearplas have decided to establish a base in the Meath Gaeltacht and create well needed jobs in the area. This area is an excellent location to do business, with easy access to customers and markets in Ireland and abroad.”   

Padraig Shine, Director of Clearplas, said: “We approached Údarás na Gaeltachta with our business plans and they are providing us with a premises in Baile Ghib and support for the project.  Clearplas Ireland Ltd will focus on sorting mixed dry plastics and supplying a variety of cleaned, sorted, separated and reprocessed plastic products for markets in Europe and Asia. The company will use superior technology to sort and reprocess rigid mixed plastic at this new facility and we plan to extend our business into markets in Asia and South America. ”

Steve Ó Cúláin, CEO of Údarás na Gaeltachta said the authority was pleased to be in a position to support and facilitate the company’s development plans. He said, “The employment opportunities that this company will generate are important to the Meath Gaeltacht area. Údarás looks forward to working with the company to further its development plans.”

Clearplas have already begun their operation in Baile Ghib and are currently recruiting a number of positions.
