Lighthouse launch for new coldrick cd

The Light House Cinema, Smithfield, Dublin, was the backdrop for the launch of renowned Irish classical guitarist and composer Pat Coldrick’s new album, CityJam. This latest offering from Pat is a formidable follow up to Cayendo, Pat’s first acclaimed album which has been sold worldwide and includes original compositions and arrangements as well as some of the great guitar master pieces. CityJam is already receiving rave reviews and airplay across Ireland and internationally.

Navan born Pat Coldrick, who resides in Howth, Co Dublin, has been playing and studying classical guitar from the age of twelve and has worked with many of the country’s top acts. His session work and appearances have earned him a reputation of being one of the finest and most versatile guitarists in Ireland. As well as his touring performances, he has appeared on national radio and television and has studied with world renowned guitarists David Russell and Gabriel Esterellas. Pat has achieved worldwide acclaim for his unique sensitive and expressive style.

The CityJam launch was sponsored by John Norton of T&D Norton Ltd, a company based in Malahide. Over 150 guests from the music industry, media, business, sponsors, friends and family were treated to a canapés and drinks reception followed by a live performance and very special surround sound experience in Screen 2 of two pieces from CityJam, the titular piece and Antarctica. Pat’s long-standing friend and fan, broadcaster, actor and musician, Aonghus McAnally, presided as master of ceremonies. Guests also enjoyed a prize draw with superb prizes generously provided by the Radisson Blu Farnham Estate, Co. Cavan, Shamon Boutique, Castleknock, the Sol Art Gallery, Dawson Street, the Bike Hub, Howth and Holyrood Publications, Baldoyle.

Key sponsor, John Norton, is delighted to support what he recognises and appreciates as a unique and special talent. Commenting at the launch, Mr. Norton said: “I had the pleasure of meeting Pat some years ago and his level of talent and passion for music continue to astound me. Pat’s style of playing really stands out in the world of classical guitar music and also very much appeals to a broader and diverse audience with his unique and exciting expression and interpretation of music, exploring and embracing technology to enhance the dynamics of the classical guitar. T&D Norton is delighted to sponsor the launch of Pat’s new album CityJam and we wish him every success both at home and abroad. Pat should be really proud of his achievements and as a country, we should be proud of this home-grown, inspirational, world class musician and composer.”

On the composition of CityJam, Pat Coldrick said: “The feedback from live performances of this new material such as Antarctica, CityJam, Aurora and Elena has been amazing from all audiences, prompting me to record a new album to capture the hypnotic effect these pieces have on people. The project embarked on exploring new recording techniques and a modern approach to listening to classical music. With CityJam, I mixed my own compositions in surround sound for a unique and almost cinematic experience. To me, New York embodies the claustrophobia of city living and it was my first visit there that became the genesis for CityJam. The buzz of the crowds and chaotic street noise. The speed and endless stream of headlights. The expectation and frustration of keeping pace with modern living. I wanted this piece to hustle you, leave you blinded, sell you some stuff you didn’t need and leave you wondering where you parked your car.”

Aonghus McAnally, said: “Pat’s dedication to his craft is inspiring, and his compositions transport us to a musical utopia. I am proud to call him a good friend.”
