Potholes in north Meath have been the bane of local people's lives.

Threat to picket tds offices over roads

The Better Roads for North Meath campaign has asked Meath’s six TDs to attend the group’s next public meeting to be held on Thursday 13th November, warning them that failure to attend will lead to pickets outside their constituency offices.
Campaign chairman, Cllr Johnny Guirke, said: “We have at last received unanimous acknowledgement from the county council that the road conditions in the north of the county are unacceptable, some impassable and dangerous in certain places.
“The council’s decision to petition the government for extra funding to deal with this long-running problem is welcomed but now we need our TDs to step up and carry the message to government.”
He said the group was very disappointed to have a scheduled meeting with the previous Minister for Transport cancelled, but said the campaign needed local TDs get the new minister’s attention.
Cllr Guirke said: “We don’t want to have to picket our TDs, but that’s what the overwhelming majority of our members are demanding at this stage if the TDs don’t respond. They need to know just how angry people are.”
Thursday’s meeting takes place in Teach Fada, Kilskyre, at 8.30pm.
