Peter pan is gaiety panto this year

Actor Johnny Ward (Peter Pan) today joined Amy O’Dwyer (Wendy), Nicholas Grennell (Captain Hook), Sarah Bradley (Tinkerbell), Joe Conlan (Nana) and some of the cast of the Gaiety Christmas Panto – Peter Pan outside the Gaiety Theatre for the first official look at them in costume ahead of the festive season.

Most recently known as a star of Love/Hate, Johnny said today, “I can’t wait to play the lead in Peter Pan this year. Having performed in the panto two years ago, I know first hand how much hard work, as well as fun it is going to be!”

Director and choreographer Daryn Crosbie said, 'Johnny is the perfect fit for Peter Pan. Not only is he an excellent actor, his singing and dancing skills will surprise you. He brings the devil may care attitude to the role, mixed with the boyish charm that you expect from the character of Peter Pan.”

For the first time ever at the iconic Dublin theatre, soar to Neverland with Tinkerbell, Wendy, Captain Hook, Smee, Nana and all the crew at this year’s panto – Peter Pan!

Wendy Darling tells bedtime stories to her brothers John and Michael of swashbuckling swordplay with the formidable pirate leader Captain Hook, and the heroics of the playful Peter Pan. The Darling children soon become the heroes of an even greater story when Peter Pan himself flies into their nursery one night and leads them over moonlit rooftops to the mysterious kingdom of Neverland!

From the Lost Boys and the Piccaninny Tribe, to the Magical Mermaids and the Ticking Crocodile, Wendy and her brothers join Peter in an exhilarating life, free of grown-up rules, while also facing the inevitable showdown with Hook and his pirates.

This Christmas, The Gaiety Panto will give this timeless tale its familiar lavish and fun-loving touch. Today, families come from far and wide to the Gaiety Christmas Panto and for many it has become a true Christmas tradition.

Peter Pan will begin a six-week run from 1st December 2014 – 11th January 2015, so if you want to join Tinkerbell, Captain Hook, The Lost Boys and more, make sure to book early to avoid disappointment!
