Ellison awards in killeen on saturday

Jean Carr, chairperson of Meath An Taisce wishes to advise those interested in attending the Ellison Awards Ceremony on Saturday in Killeen Castle should book as soon as possible. These awards recognise people in the community who have restored historic buildings or have helped in the preservation and conservation of our natural and man-made environment.

The event stars at 1.45 pm with Mary Rose Carty, author of 'Killeen Castle' giving a tour of the outside of Killeen Castle. There will then be a a reception at 2.30pm in the clubhouse followed by speeches and a buffet lunch. Mary-Rose Carty will talk on 'The Story of Killeen Castle' and the independent judges Philip Geoghegan and Kevin Mulligan will announce the winners.

The projects shortlisted this year were Athboy Allotments, Crow’s Hermitage, Ardcath Old Mill House, Beauparc, Sonairte, Laytown, Rokeby Hall Conservatory,Golashane Farm Nature Reserve, Collon House,Collon, Ballymagarvey Village, Old Bridge House Octagonal Garden, Kilbride Anglers Club-Blackwater River Project, Old School House Preschool, Ballapouste and Navan Municipal District of Meath County Council for landscaping.

Tickets are available at a cost of €30 for one ticket and every additional ticket €27.50.
