Baugh guest of honour on big hurling day

Well-known GAA supporter Paddy Baugh will be the guest of honour at the Meath SHC final between Kiltale and Trim at Pairc Tailteann on Sunday.

A popular figure at GAA grounds throughout Meath he will perform a ceremonial throw-in before the big game gets underway to decide the destination of the Jubilee Cup for the coming year.

Baugh, however, will also be greatly interested in the outcome of the IHC final which involves his own club Kilskyre who take on Dunderry.

Throughout his life Baugh has followed Gaelic games. He supports Meath teams in hurling and football and travels to venues all over the country.

While he closely follows the fortunes of both Kilskyre and Ballinlough he is regularly seen at matches involving other clubs.

During his playing career Baugh turned out for both Ballinlough and Kilskyre.

He won a JHC medal with his beloved Kilskyre in 1961. He also helped the club to IHC triumphs in 1965, 1969 and 1982.

He also played in the 1986 IHC final when Dunboyne defeated Kilskyre.

With Ballinlough he appeared in the 1962 SFC decider when his team lost out to Trim.

Baugh played his last game for Kilskyre in 1988.

The intermediate decider on Sunday  is the first act in a double header at Pairc Tailteann and gets underway at 1.30. The senior showdown is scheduled to start at 3.30.
