Threeday african film festival opens in dublin

The Dublin African Film Festival will premiere officially selected International acclaimed African films in Dublin  from  2nd to 4th of October.

In its fourth year, the Dublin African Film Festival (DAFF) is an intercultural art-form organization that promotes interaction of diverse cultures now apparent in Ireland.

DAFF will exclusively premiere its own brand new hit short film made in Dublin, Ireland featuring great talents and Irish emerging stars titled 'Not A Freak', written by Kennedy Eguakhide and directed by Osaze Moses Wilsherhun of Mint-Water Promotions. The film focuses on the life of Tunji Bankole, a young boy with learning disabilities while other intercultural and western environment interplay to his challenging circumstances. 

The Red Carpet Gala Night Event on 4th October will bring the movie 'Half of a Yellow Sun' live to the Irish big screen again. This multi award winning film features stars including Chiwetel Ejiofor of 12 Years a Slave fame, Thandie Newton, Onyeka Onwenu, and Genevieve Nnaji, with OC Ukeje, rounding out the main cast. You cannot afford to miss it! Other selected films including -Beach 24 will also be screened at the Centre For Creative Practices, 15 Pembroke Street Lower, Dublin 2.

The Carlton Hotel in Tyrellstown, Dublin 15 will be the scene of activities for the night. It is looking good that Africa’s eccentric “Icon” Denrele Edun will be the master of ceremony with loads of performances involving both Irish and African dances, films, food, drink, music, and awards for individuals making an impact on African society in Ireland. 

The event celebrates the very best of the African film industry, creating a dialogue between Africans and the wider Irish society, which includes interactions with producers and actors, before and after the screenings. Special appearances of African ambassadors, including HE Dr Elizabeth Ketebu (Nigeria) Irish mayors and Lord Mayor of Dublin and a special guest – Mr. Adesegun Ojo from the US
