Table quiz to replace speed dating night for IEC fundraiser

A shortage of men has led to the cancellation of a novel speed dating event in aid of Ireland’s Equine Crisis (IEC) that was due to take place this Friday night. However, the fundraiser will go ahead at Teach na Teamhrach, Balreask, and instead has been relaunched as a table quiz and fun night.
IEC founder Joseph Quinn explained that unfortunately they had to cancel the speed dating night as they simply did not have enough men for it. They had aimed for 50 men and 50 women but just three men had put themselves forward.
The event was a very important fundraiser for the horse rescue organisation and the future of IEC depended on it. Rather than cancel the whole event, Mr Quinn said they have instead relaunched it as a quiz and fun night.
As well as the quiz, there will also be music, finger food and a raffle . Those attending will get half price concessions to the Palace afterwards.
Entry to the quiz is €40 for a table of four or €12 per person.
IEC is an equine welfare organisation run on a voluntary basis rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming equines in Ireland. The organisation responds to emergency calls made to its 24-hour helpline and investigates welfare concerns. Its volunteers directly interact with horse-owners to improve welfare standards where possible. IEC was set up in November 2010 by Joseph Quinn, who was then just 15 years-old.
Originally from Dublin, he and his family have lived in Trim for a number of years. A horse-lover, Joseph began by going around feeding horses some hay and doing what he could with the help of his parents, Bernie and Joe Quinn. The organisation began rescuing after they secured a yard to rent in Trim in March of last year.
