Trim triumph over O'Mahonys

After trailing 0-9 to 1-7 at the interval Trim turned on the style to comfortably defeat Navan O'Mahonys 1-20 to 1-13  in the SHC at Pairc Tailteann this evening.

The final scoreline reflected Trim's supremacy after the break when they hardly gave O'Mahonys a look in.

The game swung decisively in Trim's favour on 36 minutes when Ciaran Joyce was brought down in the square and referee Fergus Smyth pointed to the penalty spot.

James Toher stepped up and shot to the net with his penalty attempt and from then on there was no going back for John Andrews' side. The goal capped a fine display from Toher.

Damien McGee was in fine scoring form for the winners slotting over nine points including one from a superbly taken sideline cut.

He also contributed scores from a number of long-range frees with Toher also split the posts with a free from half-way.

Paddy Skehan found the range from distance for O'Mahonys and ended up with five points from placed balls.

O'Mahonys, however, only played in fits and starts and while John Foley hit the net for them early on they were unable to build on the momentum that goal provided.

Instead Trim took the reins to deservedly notch up a victory.
