Hot Press cover search for emerging star

Following the enormous success of last year’s inaugural event, The Big Break is back! Hot Press and Alcatel ONETOUCH are aiming to unearth the hottest new emerging Irish talent giving one band or solo artist the chance to follow in the footsteps of the giants of rock ’n’ roll by appearing on the cover of Hot Press.

Not only will the talented act get their chance to appear on a Hot Press flip-cover but they’ll also be invited to play at a special gig to launch their first ever cover!

It all started in 1977 when a Fender-wielding Rory Gallagher graced the very first issue of Hot Press ahead of his headlining performance at the Macroom Festival. Since then, appearing on the Hot Press cover has become a rock ’n’ roll milestone for hundreds of Irish acts including U2, The Cranberries, The Script, Kodaline, Villagers and James Vincent McMorrow.

There have also been iconic Hot Press covers accompanying interviews with such international musical royalty as Oasis, David Bowie, Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, The Clash, The Rolling Stones, Lady Gaga, Garth Brooks, Guns N’ Roses, Red Hot Chili Peppers and countless others.

In 2013, The Big Break was won by Dubliner Katie Laffan, who was studying for her Leaving Cert one moment and appearing on TV and radio stations nationwide the next!

Now, Hot Press along with Alcatel ONETOUCH are giving another talented act their chance to be part of the Hot Press legacy – and in doing so, to get THE BIG BREAK that will bring them to the attention of record companies, promoters, the media and more throughout Ireland, the UK, the US and beyond!

The competition is also open to school students  – but if they don’t win the overall prize there’ll also be a separate schools prize which will include Hot Press coverage and Alcatel ONETOUCH handsets.

TO ENTER acts simply need to head over to www.hotpress.com/thebigbreak and submit an mp3, along with a pic and few sentences as to why they deserve to be on the Hot Press flip-cover.
