Mary Dunphy, who will be performing in 'Glor Tire' on 19th February.

If you could choose.... choose Mary in Glor Tire competition

Curraha singer Mary Dunphy is one of the finalists in the TG4’s Glor Tire contest to select the best country singer for 2014. She is one of nine contestants drawn from the 32 counties to compete in its annual programme which began on 8th January.
Mary is daughter of the late Sean Dunphy, best known for his Eurovision Song Contest entry ‘If I Could Choose’, and is the only singer from Leinster shortlisted for the competition, the winner of which will be selected by public vote.
She works in a Ballyboughal Nursing Home and does some part-time singing at parties and nursing homes. Her ultimate ambition is to develop her musical career and this contest could help to further her goal in this direction. Mary is certainly a strong contender, due to her pedigree, and of course, her brother Brian is a member of The High Kings group. She is endowed with a beautiful voice and a personality to match. She has many of Sean’s singing traits and many remember his halcyon days with the Hoedowners and of course representing Ireland in the Eurovision, finishing second to Sandie Shaw’s ‘Puppet On A String’.
The first Glor Tire show went out on Wednesday 8th January 8th on TG4 where Mary sang her heart out.
In her next outing, on 19th February at 10.30pm, she will be joined by her mentor in the competition, Mick Flavin and his band. Mary will need public support and people can vote for her by calling 1513 415 106, or text a vote GLOR 6 to 53307.
