Santa Dash on Bull Island
On Sunday, 8th December, running and triathlon specialists, IrishFit, are once again holding their annual Dublin Santa Dash, a5km and 10km Fun Run on North Bull Island, Clontarf at 11am, in aid of children’s charity Make-A-Wish Ireland.
Whether you run, walk or crawl, Make-A-Wish Ireland is calling on young and old to join a stream of Santas for a day of fun and Christmas banter, whilst raising much-needed funds for Make-A-Wish, as €4 from every registration fee paid will go directly to the charity.
Make-A-Wish Ireland has one simple aim – to grant the wishes of children aged between 3 and 17 years living with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. It receives no government funding and relies solely on the generosity and support of the general public to achieve this.
Susan O’Dwyer, Chief Executive at Make-A-Wish Foundation Ireland, is looking forward to the event: “I am delighted IrishFit has chosen us as the Santa Dash Charity Partner for the second year in a row. This is such a wonderful, fun event for everyone involved and the money raised will help contribute to our goal of trying to increase the number of wishes we grant in 2013 by 60%, bringing the total of wishes this year to 210!”
Sean McFadden, Manager at IrishFit, is also looking forward to the event: “This is our 5th year now and every year it just keeps getting bigger and bigger! As many as 2,000 Santas are expected to participate this year so hopefully we will raise lots of money for worthy charity Make-A-Wish. There will also be lots of entertainment on the day including music and a Santa Grotto where the real Santa will be giving out presents to all the Children taking part. Not to mention some fabulous raffle prizes being given away throughout the day as well, thanks to Babog Bear, Little Kickers and Funky Christmas Jumpers.”
