Obituaries 21st September 2013

Patrick Conlon, Kilmessan

There was great sadness over a wide area at the sudden death of Patrick (Pat) Conlon, Tribley, Kilmessan, at the age of 72. Deceased was a native of Tribley, Kilmessan, where he lived all his life. After leaving school, he worked on local farms before moving to Birmingham for number of years to work on the building sites.
Mr Conlon returned to his native Kilmessan to work with the horses in Ennistown Stud where his lifelong passion for all things associated with horses flourished. After a number of years, he began working in Tara Mines, where he was to remain for over 12 years, making many great friends there.
After retiring from Tara Mines, Mr Conlon concentrated on his family and his joy of gardening. He continued his interest in horses by going to local race meetings and following with keen interest the racing on the TV. As his family grew with many grandchildren nothing would give him more joy than to have the family around him and calling to the family home in Tribley.
Another big part of his social life was a trip to the Bingo in Navan on a Monday night where he would catch up with lifelong friends for a chat about the week’s events. He was a regular on the seat in the shopping centre again chatting to the lads about the goings on and of course about the horses.
Pat Conlon will always be remembered by his warm heartfelt smile and his fantastic sense of humour. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Stella; sons, Gerard, Eamon, Nigel, and Roy; daughters, Lorna and Dolores; grandchildren; sons-in-law; daughters-in-law and extended family.
