Nicha Maguire and Lisa McKnight launch the Flora Sunflower Makeover competition.

Chance for a local community to win a facelift

Flora has teamed up with Super Garden’s Lisa McKnight and Meath’s own 'Masterchef' Nicha Maguire to offer one lucky community the chance to transform a rundown area into an attractive, family-friendly space.

Flora has enlisted the help of Lisa McKnight, star of RTE’s Super Garden and Masterchef’s Nicha Maguire, who is opening a resturant in Johnstown, Navan, to launch the ‘Flora Sunflower Makeover’ campaign, which will see a sad, derelict area in the lucky winners’ community transformed into a happy, sunflower filled, family-friendly space.

The Flora Sunflower Makeover will involve a complete clean up of the space; removing unsightly rubbish, overgrown weeds, painting walls etc. and could also include the addition of useful equipment, such as  picnic tables and wooden exercise bars – perfect for a stretch and cool down after some outdoor exercise! Of course, what would a Sunflower Makeover be without sunflowers? The winning space will be packed with lots and lots of beautiful sunflowers, sure to bring a smile to everyone’s face.

To be in with a chance to win this great prize, which will benefit the whole community, entrants simply submit a picture of the space that needs attention and explain why their community deserves a Flora Sunflower Makeover. The entry can either be posted through Facebook at www.facebook.com/FloraWomensMiniMarathon.com, or simply e-mailed to entry@florasunflowermakeover.com

Entries will be accepted from Friday 18th October until Tuesday 26th November. The judging panel, led by Lisa and Nicha, will have the challenging job of choosing the final winning space, which will be announced on Monday 2nd December.

Speaking at the launch of the campaign Masterchef’s Nicha Maguire said: “This is a fantastic initiative from Flora.  It’ll be great to see a community space reclaimed where families can take time out from their busy lives and enjoy quality time together, having picnics, enjoying sports etc.  I’m also looking forward to sharing some delicious Flora recipes with busy mums and dads during this campaign.”

Lisa McKnight said: “I’m delighted to be involved with Flora on this hugely worthwhile project.  We’ve all seen those local eyesores that really just need some organised TLC and sunflowers are such a fantastic way to brighten a space.  I’m really looking forward to getting started on the winning space.”

Flora is made with a scrumptious mix of sunflower and other seed oils.  The Flora range, which includes Flora Original, Flora Light and Flora Buttery has recently had its own makeover, celebrating the sunflower goodness in its vibrant new packaging.

The blend of seed oils in Flora is great for your growing kids. It contains essential omegas 3 and 6 which help with the healthy growth and development of your little ones.

Shoeb Asad, Brand Manager Flora said: “The sunflower is a hugely important element of the Flora brand and we’re thrilled to be spreading a little of that sunflower goodness to our Irish communities.  I’m very excited to see the final transformed space.”
