Tommy recalls glory of Mosney games!

Tommy Bowe might be famous for being an Irish rugby player on the wing for Ulster, Ireland and the British and Irish Lions, but nothing compares to his crowning moment when he won a silver medal in Mosney for the 4 * 100m Relay!

So the rugby star has revealed to the organisers of HSE Community Games. He said: 'I have many great memories of the community games, from competing in the local games in Monaghan to winning a silver medal in the 4*100m relay in Mosney.  It was a great part of growing up.He said he always enjoyed rugby as a sport but never realised he had a talent until he left school around 18.
'I would encourage them to try lots of sports and find out which is their favourite.  Playing other sports will help in rugby as you pick up skills in every sport that come in useful.'
Tommy says there is a link between sport and physical activity, eating well and feeling good about yourself.
'I think its very important to have a healthy lifestyle. Trying to eat healthy and even a small amount of exercise is a very good way to keep a smile on your face.
'Never in a million years would I have thought I'd get the chance to play for my country or the Lions but I dreamed about it all the time.  It shows that having a dream of what you want to achieve and with training and hard work it can come true!'
