Big welcome at Dubin airport for James Scully

Ratoath man James Scully proudly returned to Ireland today with a bronze medal from the Paralympic Swimming World Championships in Montreal, Canada.

His achievement helped Ireland to a medal each day of the championships as the team returned home with eight medals that included one gold, three silver and four bronze.

That represented Ireland’s best return at the Paralympics swimming and Scully’s medal marked his first international success.

The Ratoath man took his prize last week in the final of the 200m Freestyle S6 with a swim of 2 minutes and 58 seconds and was the highlight of a memorable week for the NUI Maynooth student who also competed in the London Paralympics last year.

Today the team returned home and James was met at the airport by members of his family following a tremendous week in Canada.
