Phil Lynnott's statue

Philo's statue to be replaced

This coming Thursday at 11am the public is invited to join Philomena Lynott, Dublin City Council and local businesses in welcoming back the statute of Phil Lynott to Harry Street.

The statute was damaged in May when it was knocked over.  The repaired statute will now come with a new base plinth that will be secure into the ground so that it will not happen again.  The statute has also been polished up for its return. The entire Grafton Street area is undergoing an extensive improvement scheme and Phil’s statute will sit right in the heart of it all.

Richard Guiney CEO, Dublin City Business Improvement District (BID) and DublinTown.ie said: “Phil Lynott is such an iconic Dubliner. It is great to see visitors from all over the world seeking out the location of the statute. Our city Ambassadors and info kiosks, who deal with 250,000 visitors each year, are regularly asked about the statute. Over the past couple of months we have worked closely with Dublin City Council to see the return of the statute and I would like to commend the Council for the extra steps they have taken to get Phil retuned to Harry St. as quick as possible”.

Dave Egan, proprietor of Bruxelles, located next to the statute, added: “We are delighted that Phil’s statute is returning. Every day outside our door we see many tourists interact with the statute having their picture taken. It’s wonderful that in this day and age Phil’s memory and music is still very much alive. He was missed from the street and look forward to welcoming him back”.
